Hi! I see the word “cold” is showing here as having the /oʷ/ sound. However, in paragraph #1 “cold” is not marked as having the sound. Is there a difference when we say the word by itself vs. in the paragraph? Thanks!
Hello! The reason for the marking /o/ in “cold” is that we don’t push the lips forward for a glide when /o/ occurs before /ɹ/ or /ɫ/.
