Working out language skills is best done in a communicative method. Being able to communicate in different contexts is fundamental. Helping students navigate life in context and using good language skills is our role as a language instructor and soon to be accent specialist! Right on!
As a newbie trainer, I will want to stay focused on implementing the RUPP METHOD. I think that the majority of students have difficulty in managing the verb patterns which greatly affect the listener’s understanding more than anything. Context needs to be set in the proper time frame first. The rest of the grammar errors can be detected as you go along. I think that the primary area to help students on is VERB TENSE PATTERNS.
